Chapter 6: War and its Causes

Outcome:

Bolivia attacks in the morning as expected. The bombing raids decimate your border cities, resulting in over one thousand civilian deaths. Your troops respond immediately and a major ground offensive pushes Bolivia back deep into its own territory. Your air force responds well also, weakening Bolivia's air power and striking key military installations. Within 48 hours, a UN coalition has come to your aid and taken the life out of the Bolivian offensive. While Bolivia continues to try to fight, it is overwhelmed by the combined Peruvian/UN force. You force Bolivia's President out of power. UN troops are able to leave approximately two weeks after arriving. You have suffered significant casualties, and critics claim that you should not have waited for Bolivia to attack first, gain an advantage, and kill so many civilians, but the general population supports you for your swift and strong retaliation. You maintained legitimacy with the UN, and you are in a position to influence the power transition in Bolivia and repair relations with your neighbor.
