Chapter 9: International Economics: Basic Theory and Core Institutions
Outcome:
- You receive a mixed response from international institutions. Some major international powers, including the United States and China, are not entirely ready to recognize Abkhazian independence, which is an obstacle to entry into international institutions. Additionally, while regional trade partners appreciate you joining the regional bloc, the greater international community is not thrilled with your high tariffs. Joining international institutions without embracing the world economy is difficult.
- You have done a fair job of putting together an economic platform, however. You have taken steps to bolster the domestic economy and reach out to regional partners. It just may be a while before the broader international community welcomes you and acknowledges you as a sovereign state and international economic actor.
